Each December companies celebrate another year of hard work and reward their employees with the typical “Holiday Party”. A chance to let your employees cut loose and get to know one another a little bit better in the process.
At Ledgeview, our tradition is to do just that. But instead of standing around the office, a bar or some restaurant, we strap on some rental shoes, grab a bowling ball and start throwing strikes and picking up spares for local charities.
Each year, Ledgeview’s annual holiday extravaganza kicks off with our “bowling for charity” event and this year sported 15 teams (a record) that represented 11 different local charities.
Turns out Ledgeview has some very talented bowlers on our team!
And for some…you know that old saying “Don’t give up your day job” – yeah, if our event was throwing gutter balls for charity, we might just solve the world’s problems. But whether it was a strike, knocking down just a single pin (or none at all), we all knew it was for a good cause and that is what rang true across all the lanes of the SuperBowl in Appleton, Wisconsin.
During the games, Ledgeview owners Lisa Benson and Doug Fissell can be heard challenging bowlers with additional donations if they can hit a hard split, pick up a spare, get that turkey or hit a strike on one specific throw (like standing backwards and tossing the ball between their legs). The energy in the alley is truly electric as bowlers know that with each spin of the ball it can mean more money to these very worthy causes.
This year our teams were able to raise over $3,300 that was distributed in varied amounts to the following charities and organizations:
The Ashley Anderson Scholarship Fund, Homeless Connection, Harbor House, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, River of Hope, Fox Valley Humane Association, Hayden’s Heroes/CFF-Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Old Glory Honor Flight, Chaps Academy, McKinney-Vento Homeless Program and the Ronald McDonald House.
The Bowling for Charity Ledgeview tradition was established in 2010. Over the last 6 years this annual event has raised more than $14,000 for 20+ local charities that are near and dear to the hearts of our Ledgeview employees.
