How to Put Your 2018 Microsoft Dynamics 365/CRM Chart in Order

When creating a funnel chart in Dynamics CRM, you will notice the order of the horizontal (or grouped) options is dependent upon the ordering set for the Legend of the chart.

Sometimes it is useful to be able to order based on option set value.

You can get this functionality with a little bit of work.

Start by going into Customizations, find the entity you’re working with and select Charts. Highlight the chart you need to modify, select ‘More Actions’ from the top menu bar, then ‘Export Chart’.

At this point, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to make a copy of the .xml file, in case you need to revert back to the original code.

When you are ready to make the change, open the .xml file up in Notepad and find the <fetchcollection> tag. Within the <entity> tag, you’ll want to add another ordering node (see screenshot).

Once finished and saved, go back to the solution (where we exported the chart), go to ‘More Actions’ and select ‘Import Chart’.

After publishing these changes, your new chart will be ordered by the value of your horizontal series.
