Salesforce Summer Release Notes 2020

While summer 2020 may feel far away what with the current state of the world, users can still look forward to the upcoming Salesforce Summer 2020 Release.

The Salesforce Summer 2020 Release was originally scheduled for June 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has recently been pushed back to July 10th and 18th depending on your specific Salesforce instance. To determine your new date, navigate to the Salesforce Trust website.

If you’re new to Salesforce Trust and want to be sure you never miss an update, follow these steps to subscribe:

  1. Go to Status.Salesforce.com
  2. Login to Salesforce Trust with the address you use to login to Salesforce Salesforce Summer Release 2020
  3. An email will be sent to your email client to verify your login – once you’ve verified, click on “My Subscription” below your profile icon. (Shown in the image above)
  4. A pop-up window will appear in the center of your screen. From there, find the instances you’d like to subscribe to, or subscribe to general updates. If you’re unsure which instances apply to you, consult your Salesforce Administrator for advice. Salesforce Summer Release 2020

The Salesforce Summer 2020 Release Date will likely move depending on your Salesforce server.

The second thing you should be aware of is how and when your Sandbox will be upgraded. This is extremely important, as this will be the first opportunity you have to test your system on the new release.

You can sign-up to a pre-release org (not yet available), but these, of course, will not have any of your configurations.

Salesforce usually has two release windows for Sandboxes, which depends on whether your sandbox is a “Preview” instance or “Non-Preview” instance. Currently, Salesforce has stated that the Sandbox preview will happen on May 29-30th.

There may be a lack of two windows due to COVID-19.

We will update this blog post as Salesforce releases more information, so be sure to bookmark it for future reference.
