Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales

The Microsoft Dynamics 365 October 2019 Release comes with many exciting updates to Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales admins and users should look forward to.

New capability highlights users can look forward to include …

  • Integration enhancements:
    • Helps to connect Dynamics 365 records to team channels without having to leave Dynamics 365 apps
    • Improves the extensibility
    • File sharing can be enabled for any out-of-the-box and custom entities, across Dynamics 365 and Teams connections

  • Contextual email communication:
    • Salespeople can …
      • Write email with context of the record they are working on
      • Navigate between records
      • Have multiple active draft emails open simultaneously
      • Preview the content before sending
      • Add attachments
      • Use email templates to optimize commonly used tasks
    • Includes a rich text editor and a pop-up non-blocking window to help users craft better emails than ever before with Dynamics 365 for Sales
    • Gives salespeople relevant content at a glance, while they compose their email(s) to customers

  • Simplified lead management experience:
    • Introduces improvements across top scenarios related to lead management
    • Helps salespeople maximize productivity
    • Auto populate contact and/or company-related fields
    • Display notes and attachments captured by a sales rep when promoting a lead in an opportunity record after a lead is qualified
    • Enables sales reps to qualify leads more effectively, moving them into the next stage of the sales cycle

Access to this release wave started August 2, 2019, and will be generally available on Oct. 1, 2019.

To prepare for the general availability release, Microsoft issues this advice:

“End-user impacting features should be reviewed by application administrators … (to) facilitate release change management, and enable successful onboarding of new capabilities released to market.”

Microsoft reminds admins to, “look for all features tagged ‘end users, automatically’ in the release plan.”

Among these new enhancements, other exciting updates include:

  • LinkedIn Sales Navigator integration enhancements
  • Simplified signup experience for Sales Professional
  • Softphone dialer
  • Business card scan
  • Customization of Opportunity Close dialog box
  • Enhance the adding or editing Opportunity/Quote/Order/Invoice products experience
  • Out-of-the-box hierarchical relationship on the Territory entity
  • Improve or simplify the most common sales workflows
  • Microsoft Teams integration enhancements
  • Simplified lead management experience
  • LinkedIn Sales Navigator Data validation
