Industry experts may hear the phrase “lead generation” and laugh. Why is this?
A popular 1984 film in which Alec Baldwin stars that’s based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning film, “Glengarry Glen Ross” encourages an onlooker’s worst fears about the concept and execution of lead generation with inside sales.
In the film, Baldwin’s character, Glengarry Glen Ross, says, “These are the new leads. These are the Glengarry leads; and, to you, they are gold.”
He also stops a colleague in the film from getting a morning boost, informing them that, “coffee is only for closers.”
This is a bit of an exaggerated commentary on the industry and its standards, preying on common fears surrounding lead generation management, strategies, and execution today.
Rest assured that you needn’t be concerned about the Glengarry Glen Ross’ of the world; however, you should be focusing on your own unique lead generation process, and what your organization’s needs are to help ensure a successful lead generation program with inside sales.
